rickshaw, not as hard as you think to associate us. We have been in many different stores together w/our children and he will be spoken to by someone and 2out of 5 times it is someone he has arrested. So we go out of our way to not go to local stores when together. I don't need a high profile drug dealer putting 2 and 2 together. Then spreading the word when I am seen donating somewhere or out shopping and they feel they were wronged and take it out on myself or our children.

Chele -- I do indeed understand the reasoning. Being the spouse of one who protect and serve, you and he has enough to be concerned about without adding to it. I agree that jails or prisons are not into building model citizens. However, he/she would have to be a fairly smart cookie to associate you with your husband at a neutral location. My hat's off to you who are willing to share a loved one with the masses as a public servant.

Also when I worked at the PD we would recomment the United Way. You call 211 and they will help.

Well you have to understand, if my husband is locking them up in his own community the last thing he wants is someone who he has arrested helping me unload my car. Then they know my car me and my kids if they are with me.
If that's your choice of place to donate that's fine. You have no "ties" to these people in the way my husband does. Well we may be good samaritans the people who are going there for shelter may not.
We give so many ways. Always to breast cancer, childhood cancer, food drives through school, can hunger at the grocery, mda, the shriners who collect for childrens hospitals to name a few.
Everyone who takes stuff to this place should be aware what type of people are being sheltered. Not all criminals are rehabilitated.

Chele - I'm curious .. understanding how an officer can feel on convicted felons but, where does he suggest they go to get a meal upon release with no job and maybe no home to go to? It is a Ministry that's serves all and don't bypass the guy on the side of the road that's been discarded. We need more samaritans don'cha think?

I used to donate there years ago before I met my hubbie. He didn't like that because that's where some of his people he's arrested go after they get out. So now I chose other places.

The Quinn House in Lawrenceville is a local outreach ministry that donates food to hundreds of people every month.
