my 1994 had 286000 miles on it fist engine and only new hoses put on it ...got great milage sold it for a 1996 and it get some what ok 55+MPG average out from winter and summer gas at 45+- .take care co it oil and air filter changes ...I see now that I need a new muffler have a small hole in it ....drive axle need to be changed out and the timing belt needs to be changed. Other wise it is great ..just preventive maientence.

Have a 98 Metro with 108k miles. Gets about the same mileage as your 89.

i have 3 geo/chevy metros, all have 3cyl w/ac. at 60 mph they all turn in about46-49 mpg. this ethonal has reduced the mpg! we now pay more and get less! i use to get as high as 53 mpg. who needs a hybrid!

We have a 97 Metro which gets right at 36.9 mpg. It has just over 110,000 and was totaled three years ago by the other driver's ins company. We bought it back and had the side repaired and it is doing just fine. BTW:The other driver was driving a Vette and he didn't fair so well.

My 89 geo spectrum got amazing gas mileage. I used to fill it up once every few weeks. great car.
