I try and consolidate all my errands on one day, then I am not driving all over the place! Try to conserve gas! I have an SUV which is a pig on gas!

I honestly feel that ever since gas prices went up the amount of trips or money I spend on entertainment has decreased.

I have always tried to conserve since I went thru the 1973 Oil crisis. The difference now vs then is the duration of the stress of higher prices.

Presently I am driving a 1993 Ford Festiva and am averaging 54.9 MPG (Canadian Gallon), a combination of city and highway, so the price of gas has not affected me too much. As I am retired, the car does not go on the road every day so the expense of driving is not a concern for me.

I wait to do errands at once and stop extra trips. I stay at home & travel as little as possible, even have cancelled appointments because of the price of gas.......

I drive so infrequently that gas prices change by a good amount every time I get gas so it doesn't matter to me.

More than one of the changes listed above. I have to drive a lot less since I have a big gas guzzler. I walk, bike, and ride the bus a lot more frequently as does the rest of my family. We try to cut the driving down to necessity.

All of the above. Now, as of yesterday if you use the tollway, the Illinois Toll Board approved an increase of almost 50%. The 40 cent IPass toll will now be 75 cents! Cash price will double as well. Way to go Gov. Quinn and company!

More than one. I consolidate errands, and I stay at home more. Also, since I frequently drive for business purposes, I'll drive at 60 mph or the speed limit, whichever is lower, on my return trips when I'm less pressed for time.

I just watch prices and try to buy when they are falling. I buy much of my gas across state lines when I can saving 20 cents a gallon.

I have never driven less in my entire life as now. THANK GAWD for Even before joining GB site, I checked prices almost daily, specifically just before purchasing fuel since I live right on a state line. My gas stations are basically same distance away, just in different states. Gasbuddy site sure helps me know in advance which direction to drive in case I am making a special trip for fuel.
Thank you for being here!

Consolidated some more. Also try to get to Wal-Mart/Murphy USA for fill-ups because (in Michigan, anyway) they have 10 cents off per gallon if you use a Wal-Mart card until Sept. 30, 2011. This is a 30 mile round trip, so I usually do shopping for items not available locally.

Consolidated errands, Stay home more, carpool, and one you left out I have greatly reduced discretionary spending (fewer: meals out, movies, cd, DVDs, unnecessary items, and junk food). Also looking for a job with a shorter commute (currently 125mi per day) I think energy cost have sucked the life out of the economy to the point that we're on the brink of a major economic crash in this area of north Ga.

I already economize as much as I reasonably can. I've been driving like gas cost $10 a gallon for years.

To: CheapCheapNJ Look for a Marathon gas station in your community. If you pay your bill promptly, they will give you a discount on the credit card price; sometimes as much as 15 to 17 cents per gallon!
SA
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MesSAge Posted: Aug 25, 2011 9:06:57 PM I also stopped paying for gas via credit card. Sometimes it could cost as much as 10 cents per gallon more when you pay on a card.
