Fire at Calif. refinery is out; 200 go to hospital

Yahoo -- SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A fire at one of the nation's largest refineries is out.

San Francisco Bay area-based KGO-TV reports that the fire at Chevron's refinery in Richmond, about 10 miles northeast of San Francisco, was doused early Tuesday morning.

Chevron spokeswoman Heather Kulp, however, said at a 5 a.m. news conference that officials were conducting a controlled burn.

The fire spewed black smoke over cities in the San Francisco Bay area. It was contained and a shelter-in-place order lifted on Monday night.

Hospitals have reported receiving more than 200 patients — some complaining of shortness of breath — since the fire started.

But 200 go to the hospital?
Too many refinery fires and Big Oil will raise fuel prices if they want to or have a refinery undergo 'unplanned maintenance' when they want to. There is nothing you can do, Big oil will maintain its profits without regard to your well being or your possible economic problems.
The trend is always up with fuel prices. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon, $3 to $3.50/gallon is Not the new low!
With 'coming out of the closet' Barry's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, who can afford to buy fuel and the vehicle to use it! Barry can spin the jobs numbers so they look much better than what they really are, he's a smooooth talker if there ever was one!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

You have to get out of the way when smoke is involved. Get out of the area.
